PERAN PEMERINTAH DAERAH DALAM MENINGKATKAN PARIWISATA DI KABUPATEN GUNUNGKIDUL

This research aims to find out the role of the Gunungkidul Regency regional government in carrying out regional autonomy affairs in the tourism sector. The research method used is descriptive qualitative with a literature review approach, where research is carried out by summarizing and synthesizing the results of previous research related to a topic. Then the data source for this research comes from secondary data sources. In this research, to check the validity of the data, researchers used the Triangulation model, meaning repeating or clarifying with various sources. For data analysis techniques in this research, researchers used an interactive model or the Miles and Huberman Model, including data reduction, data presentation conclusion, and data verification. To determine the role of government in improving tourism, researchers used the theory of the role of government according to Subadra (2006) with indicators of tourism planning, tourism development, tourism policy, and tourism regulations. The results of this research are that the role of local government in increasing tourism in Gunungkidul Regency is quite good and structured starting from tourism planning with a comprehensive RPJMD, then tourism development which has focused on building infrastructure that supports accessibility and comfort for tourists. Apart from that, the regional government has also formulated tourism policies that support the growth of this sector. However, some policies are not yet optimal, and the regional government has established clear regulations to ensure tourism development runs by the master plan.
